HardCastle Restaurants [McDonald's India]
When Amit joined the McDonald's family in March 1995 as MD, Hard Castle Restaurants Pvt. Ltd. he was the youngest Joint Venture Partner at McDonald's. Today, he is spearheading McDonald's in West & South India in the capacity of Vice Chairman.
Amit has undergone hands on training for a year at McDonald's in Jakarta (Indonesia) as well as obtained a degree in Hamburgerology from the Hamburger University, Oak Brook (Illinois, USA).
He played a significant role in facilitating a smooth entry for McDonald's in India. Simultaneously, he also created the essential organizational infrastructure to develop and run the chain of McDonald's restaurants in the region.
With the first restaurant in Mumbai in October 1996, there has been no looking back for him. Today, Amit has established over 110 world-class McDonald's restaurants across West & South India and Hard Castle Restaurants was appointed Development Licensee for McDonald's in India in early 2011, a progression from Joint Venture partner. Amit has also been spearheading Supply Chain and Product Development for the McDonald's system in India.
During his decade long journey with McDonald's, Amit has won accolades and awards for Business Excellence. In 2003, Amit was awarded the "Young Achievers Award" by the Indo - American Society of India and has also been instrumental in leading McDonald's to winning Business World's 'Most Respected Company' awards as the 'No 1 Food Services Company' in India, in 2003 and 2004. Amit was also nominated for "The Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence" as "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2004 and 2005.
Prior to McDonald's, Amit was the Managing Director of Houghton Hard Castle (India) Ltd., one of the family group companies. Amit was also completely involved in Hard Castle & Waud Manufacturing Co. Ltd. [HAWCO], a public limited company manufacturing and marketing industrial chemicals. HAWCO has been the pioneer in most of its four business groups - process chemicals, industrial coatings, construction chemicals and coated products division. From 1993, Amit has been instrumental in re-structuring the company's business through strategic alliances with leading companies internationally.
Family also owns and operates Western Pioneers, a leading construction company. Amit has been instrumental in getting the company listed on Alternate investment Market (AIM), London.
Amit has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He has moved up to be a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), from his position as the board member of Young Entrepreneur's Organization in 2003.

Smita Jatia moved into the role of Managing Director, HRPL, in July 2010. Prior to this she has played an instrumental role in launching, indigenizing and building the McDonald's India brand as Chief Operating Officer and the Head of Marketing.
Under her leadership McDonald's India (West & South) is pursuing an aggressive growth plan. Her vision is to build and lead a Customer Centric, Performance Oriented organization.
Smita has a degree in Commerce from Mumbai University. Her other qualifications include a Management Development Program from the Harvard University, Boston. An intensive marketing diploma program at the Hamburger University, USA, rounds off the list.
Smita is a fitness enthusiast and aims to be the best in all aspects of her life and that is the reason that inspite a busy schedule she balances time for her kids, family and friends. Her varied interests include reading, vedantic literature and yoga.
